Benefits Eligibility

You have the power to select a custom benefits package to meet your unique needs.

Full-Time Employees

Eligibility for coverage under the company benefits program begins on your date of hire. Spouses and eligible dependent(s) are extended coverage automatically.

Part-Time Employees

Eligibility for coverage under the company benefits program begins on your date of hire if you work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Spouses and eligible dependent(s) are extended coverage automatically.

Temporary, Casual, Intern, Summer Student and Co-Op Employees

Employees under these titles are not eligible for benefits. However, if you experience a work-related accident, you are eligible to receive $50,000 in company-paid Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage.

Family Members

The following dependents are eligible for benefits:

  • Spouse (e., person you are legally married to or have been living with for at least one year)
  • Employee’s children and spouse’s children under the age of 21 and unmarried*
  • Employee’s children and spouse’s children under the age of 25, unmarried and full-time students at a recognized post-secondary institution*
  • Employee’s children and spouse’s children of any age, unmarried and unable to care for themselves due to a mental or physical disability that occurred before the age of 21, or before the age of 25 while a full-time student at a recognized post-secondary institution**

*Dependent(s) will receive coverage until an employee no longer qualifies for said coverage or they are no longer eligible due to marital status and/or graduation from a post-secondary institution

**Proof of your child(ren)’s disability and/or school enrollment information must be provided

Important Deadline

As a new employee, you must enroll for benefits within 30 days of your hire date. If you do not enroll during your new hire period, your next opportunity to enroll in benefits is during Annual Enrollment each fall or if you experience a Life Event Change.
